Did you know that you can do hypnosis for confidence? Yes! It is a thing! If you often feel bad about yourself or focus on your flaws instead of your gifts — perhaps hypnosis for confidence can help build your self-confidence.
But first, a little FYI on hypnotherapy.
Hypnosis is an approach that involves inducing a calm and relaxed but focused state to tap into the subconscious mind. It typically uses repetition and mental imagery to encourage relaxation.
When youre hypnotized, you are more likely to respond to suggestions. In addition, research shows an increase in frontal lobe activity, which is responsible for executive decisions and voluntary movement.
When a certified professional uses hypnosis to help deal with issues such as toxic habits, anxiety, weight loss, and IBS, it becomes hypnotherapy. The root causes may be uncovered through hypnotherapy, and more positive coping mechanisms are implanted into the subconscious.
Hypnosis can also increase your self-confidence by addressing your subconscious fears.

Self-esteem is closely linked to self-worth. This is how much we accept, appreciate, and value ourselves.
However, you may struggle to build healthy self-esteem if you have experienced trauma or many negative experiences.
Here are some signs of low esteem:
Having poor self-esteem can have a strong impact in your life, work, and relationships. You may find it hard to maintain healthy relationships and cope with problems.
Worst of all, you might be going down a spiral of unhealthy or toxic behaviors if you dont do something about it. Youre more prone to having eating disorders, mental disorders, and drug or alcohol abuse.
This is where hypnosis comes in.

There are several strategies hypnotherapists use to help improve your confidence. A 2012 study provides an outline of how a typical hypnosis session goes:
Initially, the hypnotherapist explains that self-esteem changes from time to time. Sometimes you feel good because of the task youve mastered or the people youre with.
At this point, the hypnotherapist helps you relax. He or she may also use truisms or generally accepted statements that lead to suggestions. Instead of bringing up self-esteem, he or she may opt to use a sense of pride or identity.
In this stage, the hypnotherapist uses metaphors specific to the clients needs, experience, and interests. For example, a client who likes gardening may respond better to seed or plant metaphors.
The hypnotherapist may use posthypnotic suggestions to highlight positive future possibilities. He or she may use phrases such as you are learning to remove unnecessary pressure on the client to make abrupt changes.

While some still think hypnosis is a magic trick that uses a pocket watch and mind control to make people do what they want, scientific research supports it.
Of course, this includes using hypnosis for confidence-building.
For instance, a 2021 study on cancer patients with poor self-esteem and emotional distress reported improved self-esteem after 8 weekly sessions.
Another earlier study in 2009 found that hypnosis-induced mental training effectively encouraged a positive self-concept among students.
Interestingly, hypnosis has also been shown by a 2017 study to help increase the self-confidence of kids, specifically stuttering children aged 8 to 12 years old.
