As you probably know, Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese practice of arranging things in a space to bring peace and harmony. It translates to the way of wind and water. Now, if youre eager to know how to use feng shui for health, youre in the right place.
Before we delve deep into the impact of feng shui on our health and well-being, lets talk about some basic principles to remember.
There are four basic concepts that you need to remember in feng shui.
First, there are five elements in feng shui: earth, wood, metal, fire, and water. Each has an optimal placement in a given space.
Earth is all about support and stability. This element can be expressed through earth colors (beige, brown, or taupe), rugs, pottery, and others.
On the other hand, the element of wood thrives in healthy plants, green color, and the like. Wood brings growth and abundance.
Meanwhile, metal stands for structure, discipline, and productivity. You can add the metal element through gray walls, metal structures, white pillows, and similar items.
As for fire, fire is associated with passion and romance. You can place touches of red, pink, bright yellow, and magenta for this element. Also, you can use yellow light fixtures, candles in the colors mentioned, or even small red cushions to include this element.
Last but not the least, we have water. Water signifies comfort and harmony. You can put in this element by using blue and black colors, mirrors, or images of water.

For the second concept, we have Bagua which is your spaces energy map. It illustrates which areas of your life correspond to a specific feng shui element. For instance, the north is linked to career and life journey (water) while the east is family (wood).
To know your homes Bagua, you may use a compass (traditional approach) or just a tracing paper and pen (Western).

As you may have noticed, feng shui elements can also be shown through various colors. To harness good feng shui energy, you need to notice how its all coming together.
Lastly, we have the command position which is the point where theres optimal flow of energy according to feng shui. In a given room, the command position is located diagonal to the door and furthest away. This is the spot where you need to place your main furniture.
If the diagonal placement doesnt work in your space, make sure you can see the door from wherever you are lying, sitting, or standing.
Now that we got the basics covered, we can discuss more about applying feng shui for your health and well-being.
Here are some things you can do to improve your health with feng shui.
Since the bedroom is your sanctuary for sleep and rest, you need to ensure that chi flows smoothly in this space.
To make sure that the chi here is balanced, invite sunshine and fresh air.
Moreover, dont add any mirrors or a TV. This is because mirrors may bounce energy and intensify your worries. Similarly, never add a water feature like an aquarium behind your bed. It has the same effect as mirrors.
Kerri Miller of Kerri Miller Consulting and author of Feels Better. Flows Better. Feng Shui for Inspired Living, says, “if the underlying chi/energy of your space is unsettled or flowing harshly, over time, it will subtly affect your mood, energy level, and overall health. For example, if the energy of your bedroom is off because clutter or active items (like work or exercise equipment) are interfering with the calmness of the space, then your sleep will be poor, and over time that affects your health.
In feng shui, gold and yellow represent cheerfulness, health, and fertility. Do you notice how your mood instantly lifts when you see something yellow?
Another great color to consider is green which represents life and abundance. So, make sure to add touches of green in the kitchen and dining room.
Yes, living plants boost positivity in your home when placed in the area for wealth. In the traditional approach, this is the southeastern corner or using the Western technique.
In feng shui Bagua, the health area is the center of the home. This area touches all the other areas such as love, wealth, and career.
You need to decorate this with earth items like ceramic pots with healthy plants (except cactus), images of mountains, and earth colors like brown and beige. You can also add some wonderful crystals.
To make sure the flow of energy moves smoothly, make sure youre able to move around the furniture in this area.
Moreover, you can light a candle here which brings a fire element. Do this with an intention especially when someone in the family is sick.
Clutter brings negative chi and causes issues especially when its in the health area. So, make sure to get rid of the clutter.
And oh, that includes clutter inside your cabinets and drawers.
